Water Damage – Given Up For Dead

The folks of a young teen boy had messaged us saying his phone had shown an almost DOS like message on the screen and would no longer response to touch. We immediately had ideas, and upon opening it up.. we discovered our fears to be confirmed.. spades of water damage!

Water Damage – Not Always The End

Had they taken it to the Genius Bar, a grave look would have crossed the face of the fellow helping them, and he would have pronounced it dead on the spot. But here at The Stem, we don’t “make the call” until the corpse begins to develop Rigor Mortis.

Good dental hygiene is very important for water damaged logic boards…

After a complete tear down, we break out the tools of the trade.. a good ol toothbrush and 99% Isopropyl Alcohol! A good brushing or two at the connectors clears away the build up and stops and further degradation of the metal. After it’s set out to air dry, we reassemble and give a quick prayer to the saint of electronics, Saint Isidore and hit the power button. It did indeed turned on as expected, and thankfully it responded to touch this time!

Another iPhone saved from he brink and drink!
