Apple Maps Look Around Feature Finally in Calgary!

As a Canadian, we’re used to being behind on certain Apple service features, and Apple Maps Look Around has been a super long delay. But, as of now, major Canadian cities are finally included!

That us on Apple Maps Look Around!!

Apple Maps Look Around Looks Beautiful

Though Apple is the follower in this feature set, they’ve pulled a classic Apple move and improved upon it in significant ways. Unlike the warp stretch effect in Google Maps Apple has rigged an incredibly smooth transition that really looks like you are driving through the environment.

Along with Look around, the updates include faster and more accurate navigation, more precess addresses, better road coverage, and more detailed land cover. Another nice feature introduced in iOS 14 is Guides, curated “What To Do” lists in select cities. It lets you map out a great tour of the city hitting the local spots and attractions. These lists are powered by 3rd parties such as Toronto Life and Narcity, and Lonely Planet.

Disappointed that The Stem is not on the Calgary Must Visit!

Coverage Still Pathetic

Because we’re the frozen hostile wasteland, the number of cities covered with Look Around is pitiful. Cities such as Calgary, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, and select parts of Newfoundland, Nova Scotia are covered, but not much more. iOS 14 Maps is also supposed to include Cycle routes(including elevation and carry data), Electric vehicle routing, and even Red Light & Speed cameras.

But again, since we such a backwater, don’t hold your breath on these features coming to Canada en masse. If you see anything interesting though, drop us a line!
