Another year, another repair program from our friends at Apple! This time, it’s the 2015 MacBook Pro battery!
MacBook Pro Battery Overheating
It seems the battery cells in the MacBook Pro (15-Inch, Mid 2015) can overheat and “pose a safety risk”… in other words, they could potentially swell up or worse, possibly burst into flames. No other models are affected according to Apple. Thankfully Apple has not had such recalls as other manufactures have had, but recalls still happen.
To see if your model is eligible, sold between September 2015 and February 2017, go to your Apple Menu, select “About This Mac”, copy the serial number, and plug it into this site here: https://support.apple.com/15-inch-macbook-pro-battery-recall
If you believe your model is affected, march on into an Apple Store and have it taken care of! For free of course! Good idea to book a Genius Bar reservation first though. If you are out in the boonies, give them call at: 1-800-692-7753.
