Ok, I take that back, rice IS magic, it feeds BILLIONS of people every day, saves many from starvation and has a lot of uses beyond food… but it does not fix water damage to electronics.

I’m sure you’ve heard at least one friend suggest to someone after their phone goes for a swim, “Throw it in a bag of rice!!”, and let me tell you, I’ve removed grains of rice from many a charging port… and even removed porridge from computers.
Much like snake oil, heroin cough drops and a snail on your wrist (ok, I made that one up, but it’s believable!) the rice trick has plenty of supporters but very little real evidence. Does it draw out water? Sure… but that doesn’t mean whatever damage the water has done has been repaired. But tell that to this fellow…
A great use of police resources I’m sure!
So, by all means, toss it in a bag of rice, but bring that bag of rice and electronics immediately to us! We’ll take it completely apart and properly clean it! This is your best chance of survival. Just be sure the rice isn’t cooked… but I heard of a good hack…
