Apple Pushing Others For Excellence

Apple has been known as a leader in virtually all industries it has its fingers in. They do a LOT of things on their very own, from designing their own products to producing their own processors; but, like most companies, they rely on other manufacturers for plenty of things. The thing is, producing things for Apple can be incredibly demanding. You thought customers could be demanding in your job? They have nothing on Apple!

Working for Apple be like...

Like this.. but another 1,440°…

Apple Forces Exceptionalism

When Apple can’t do something for itself and outsources, they are known to insistently drive suppliers to create unique solutions for them. When it came to the amazing glass cube for the flagship New York location, Apple pushed glass maker Seele to produce larger panels than it over had. I was unable to find the producer contracted for work on Apples new headquarters, but it has been recorded that the single largest piece of curved glass was recently installed there; that in itself is an amazing accomplishment.

Did you know this place features a glass staircase as well?

Another example which related to the new headquarters recently surfaced; Apple has contracted a Danish company, Arco, to produce seemingly simple tables for their new space. But with Apples typically obsessive eye, they are pushing Arco to doing something they never done in their 112 year history. Arco has been forced to innovate and push their limits due to Apples request of unusually large, seamless surfaced tables. Each table weighs over 600lbs and measures 4 feet wide, but 18 feet long! The length forced Arco to innovate and push their craft to the limits, producing a single seamless table top.

I don’t think many companies could weather Apples very intense demands, but when you have similarly driven owners, you can work with Apple to do things you’d never have dreamed possible.

The mountain of money for the 500 table order from Apple may be nice, but is pittance compared to the pride of doing something they never have before; further expanding upon their already impressive quiver of abilities.

It’s exciting to see what Apple brings out in others!
