Wacom Cintiq 27 GHD Review

A few weeks ago we were out covering a photoshoot for Xpose Beauty’s exciting new product line. The photographer, Meital of Meital Studios was very well equipped, and there was one toy that really caught my eye.. the massive Wacom Cintiq 27 GHD on her desk. I took the opportunity to get the scoop on this amazing device from someone who uses it every day, and the results are fantastic!

Wacom Cintiq

Look at the size of that thing!

Wacom Cintiq A Winner For Photographers

The first thing you notice is the sheer size.. 27 inches of screen match the high end 27″ iMac beside it.. the biggest improvement over the 24″ she was using before. She stated that working on the smaller model was cramped and awkward when using a larger screen iMac.

Matching the on-screen resolution of the iMac at 2560 X 1440, with a colour depth of 97% Adobe RGB, it has the density and colour range to satisfy even the most discerning eye. Combined with colour management products from X-Rite, you can ensure amazing accuracy and uniformity of colour.

The Pen Pro that’s included has 2048 levels of pressure and features a section of different tips that offer different tactile feedback on the specially texture glass surface. Optional ergonomic stands augment the included kickstand to offer more angles of comfort, and a physical button remote can be mapped to enable instant access to different commands, making your workflow incredibly efficient and customized to your needs.

The only fly in the ointment per-say is a few of them.. including her’s, did come with an annoying colour cast that comes and goes. But a quick power on and off seems to fix it up until Wacom comes out with a software solution.

This talented photographer gives it a solid 5 our of 5 though! Thank you Meital for your review of this gem!

You can get your own Wacom Cintiq via their website for $3,079!
